Victims Families Call for Justice in Philippines Massacre

The Philippine's Armed forces are de-arming the warlords body guards and private armies which is very necessary, but could lead to a vendetta revenge if the weapons are not removed from all concerned.

The report of 64 bodies with the following article is incorrect evidently the number was given by an unreliable source the total body count is still 57. As the second article confirms, one thing for sure is the ampatuan clan will not be winning any seats in the coming election.

BODYGUARDS of Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (Armm) Governor Zaldy Ampatuan were accosted by personnel of Task Force (TF) Davao Saturday morning.

Some six firearms were confiscated by the authorities from their possession.

TF Davao chief Colonel Oscar Lactao said they intercepted a convoy of Governor Ampatuan and his family escorted by four armed security personnel in front of the Airport View inn, near the Davao International Airport around 6 a.m.

When checked, the bodyguards were found to be carrying two high-powered firearms and four pistols.

The bodyguards were identified as Police Officer 2 Datuali A. Amil, PO1 Sonny Boy A. Gamelo of Maguindanao Philippine National Police (PNP), Army Staff Sergeant Antonio S. Adrias; and Army Sergeant Saturnino Pagalilauan.

CADAVER HUNT ENDS WITH 57 MANILA (AFP) – Police have ended a grisly search for corpses and mass graves from an electionlinked massacre in Maguindanao, with the known death toll standing at 57, officials said yesterday.

The authorities dismissed several news reports that quoted a police official saying he had counted 64 bodies from the slaughter just off a farming road in Maguindanao.

“We ended the search yesterday,’’ Senior Superintendent Bienvenido Latag, the police chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, told reporters by telephone.

“We have 57 bodies in our official list. Of course we are still checking and if there are reports of more bodies we will verify those. But so far, the information that we have is that the total has not changed.’’

It is very usual for rich suspect under arrest to claim they have a medical problem and of course the main suspect is now pretending he has a breathing problem.  This is an effort to be placed under house arrest as the jails here in the Philippines are very unsavory and most are infested with rats.
