Amtrak Derailment: 175 People Aboard

An Amtrak train has derailed near Max, Nebraska, in the state's southwest. The California Zephyr, en route from Emory, California to Chicago, Illinois, was carrying 178 people.

Apparently the Amtrak train struck a farm vehicle that was on the tracks at around 8am local time.

Update: three passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
