Amy Beck, the Burbank Teacher Who Had Sex With a Student, Has Been Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison

Earlier this year Amy Beck admitted to having sex with one of her students and now the former David Starr Jordan Middle School teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison. She has also received three years probation and will be registered on the sex offenders list for the rest of her life according to KTLA.

Amy Beck reportedly had a seven-month affair with a 14-year-old male student, who is no longer a student at David Starr Jordan School, and she admitted to the relationship and turned herself in to police in early March 2010.

She was charged with five counts, four of which were counts of unlawful sex with a person under the age of 16 and could have received up to seven years in prison. However, due to the fact she turned herself in meant that she was given a lighter sentence.

"This plea means the victim won't have to testify," Deputy District Attorney Debra Archuleta said in March. "We believe this is a satisfactory resolution of the case."

When the boy was interviewed by police he admitted that the sexual acts between Ms. Beck and himself did occur.
