Amy Victoria Beck, the Teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School Will Remain in Jail for Alleged Sex with 14-Year-Old Boy

In an update in the Amy Beck case, the teacher who surrendered herself to police on Monday for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old student at David Starr Jordan Middle School, has had her arraignment postponed to March 25th by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge according to the Burbank Leader.

It was postponed while she continues to work with the authorities on her case and she will remain in jail while the investigation continues. Her attorney Michael Williams said:

“My client is not making any admissions,” Williamson said. “She’s voluntarily assisting and cooperating with the Burbank Police Department.”

Amy Beck did appear in court on Wednesday however to hear that her arraignment was postponed. She was dressed in a long-sleeved navy blue sweater and dress pants and sat with her head down and her hands bound while listening to the judge.

Students and Teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School in Shock Over Allegations

The students and teachers at the school where Amy Beck taught English and Social Science until last Friday are shocked at the admission of one of their teachers having an affair with a 14-year-old student. The student in question, now 15, no longer attends David Starr Jordan school.

Amy Beck was described by colleagues as 'well-respected' and the school is still trying to come to grips with the news. Ms. Beck resigned from the school last Friday but did not give a reason why at the time.

Sgt. Robert Quesada with the Burbank Police Department said that he has never had a case where someone surrendered months after the incident ending.

"I can't tell you that I remember anything like that ever happening before," Quesada said of someone confessing to a crime when police had no idea a crime had even been committed.

He mused that if someone is wracked with enough guilt, it will eventually make them do the right thing.
