Sunday, 09 August 2009
Actress Anarkali Aakarsha has perhaps realized that she can learn a thing or two from the Ministers and Members of the present Govt. who are possessed of extraordinary histrionic talents - good actors who are better at ‘acting’ than at working for the people .
Anarkali had said that she would suddenly appear on SLFP political stage – can that be to the dismay and disgust of the people ?

I am very skeptical when it comes to stars entering politics. I really hope she really want and can make the difference. Everyone deserves a chance after all.

Thank you for this news segment. I would support Amrkalli Akarsha myself.

Film personalities joining politics is nothing new.But we shouldn't forget those who acheived success in film industry because of their talents, performance, beauty or connections or whatever other reasons have flopped as politicians.I am talking of South Asian actors and actresses.
Bereft of any ideology, lack of vision doesn't diffrentiate them from run- of- the- mill type politicians.Late Sunil Dutt was an exception.

The height of absurdity. Sri Lankans are not like those illiterate fools in Tamil Nadu to vote for film actors. This bimbo would die of embarrassment after she's defeated.

She can't even speak our native language properly. Even monkeys can go to the Parliament if this keeps happening.

"Mr. President, you have won the war and freed all of us"
Freed all of use? Like the 300.000 in detention camps?
Sri Lankan politics is full of warloving corrupted criminals.

I’m prepared to give my life for Sri Lanka - Anarkali
She can do more for Sri Lanka if she quits the race and lives. She has done nothing for Sri Lanka besides starting a few scandals, up to now.
Who knows, if shew gives her life for Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan youth may benefit.

People in entertainment industry entering politics is not a new thing, look at Vijaya Kumaratunga and even Divulagane... they had something halfway intelligent to say. But I'm sorry, I'm struggling to understand how the most well known blank minded air head that ever stepped into the business for no other good reason than her looks - the only talent she can show is her looks provided that she keeps her mouth shut got into POLITICS!! I hope the sri lankan citizens have more brains than a twisted sense of humour and care about their country and vote for someone with a brain, not whoever looks the prettiest on screen.

Anarkali is a 22 year old prostitute. Is she going to the parliment to entertain the ministers, as she is already entertaining the president's son??

This is completely ridiculous. I cannot for the life of me understand how this happened - except to think that people were bedazzled by her looks and idiotic attempts at speaking sinhala and English at the same time. She is like the Sarah Palin of Sri Lankan politics; I just hope she doesn't climb any higher in the politics ladder.

"Anarkali is a 22 year old prostitute" All professionals undergo CPD (continuous personal development) activities to increase their value. Prostitution is said to be the oldest profession, so this is just a step towards 'value addition'.......
