An ancient city has recently been unearthed in northwest of Peru, close to the city of Chiclayo. The site offers evidence of human sacrifices by throwing human bodies over a cliff. The city is attributed to the Wari culture.
Ceramics, clothing, and the well-preserved remains of a young woman were also discovered, he said.
"It provides the missing link because it explains how the Wari people allowed for the continuation of culture after the Moche [died out about 600 AD]," Cesar Soriano was quoted by Reuters as saying.
The Wari culture dated from 500-900 AD and had previously been evidenced in the Andes of Southern Peru. The Moche culture flourished in Northern Peru from 100 AD. This finding suggests a link between the two cultures that was not previously confirmed.

I'm in Peru right now (I´m from California) and yes, there is an important attention of the media to this discovery. Peru is such a cultural place, so there are always interesting things to learn an to see, like the Chocolate Machu Picchu in the Marriot Hotel or the recent APEC celebrated in Lima. I find this place really charming.
