Anders Behring Breivik Arrested for Oslo Bombing, Utoya Shooting
The Utoya shooter has been named. Police have identified Anders Behring Breivik as the suspect in the Utoya shootings and the Oslo bombing that took place on July 22. Breivik is connected to several right-wing extremist groups.
A photo of Breivik appears below. He was arrested earlier in the day, but his name had not been released.
A police official, speaking anonymously, said, " "It seems it's not Islamic-terror related. This seems like a madman's work." Sky reports the police saying that he acted alone in both the Oslo and Utoya attacks; TV2 reports that the police isn't sure whether or not Anders Breivik had accomplices.
Anders Breivik has a Twitter account, with only one entry: "One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100 000 who have only interests." One can imagine that all 12 of his followers will get contacted by law enforcement at some point. His Facebook page is down.
Police searched his apartment. Breivik had a pistol and rifle registered to his name, and owned a farming supply company. Police say that the device which exploded in Oslo was a fertilizer bomb.
