Chief Minister K. Rosaiha needs to step down

After the tragic accident that took away the life of a powerful chief minister Dr.Y.S.R a few months back it is a pall of continuing gloom that pushed the progress of the state at least by a decade.

Though he enjoyed no popular support, K. Rosaiha was chosen as the High Command of the Congress party as the Chief Minister. While he worked excellently as the Finance Minister of the AP for decades, yet he miserably failed to tackle dissent within his party and failed to bring sense among the ministers and party legislators on the vexed Telangana issue. For everything he says that it is the Congress high command that offers solutions. His entire tenure of more than 100 days till now is a miserable failure with the administration coming to a grinding halt with his own party men, ministers, legislators differing on issues and failing to provide effective and able administration to the people.

A leader that too Chief Minister of such a large state need to have control over his party men, administration , ministers and legislators for effective governance. He never made attempts to face the challenges and take those opposing the separation of the state and those who are agitating for a division of the state. His lack of leadership and his lack of confidence pushed back the state and now Andhra Pradesh no loner looks attractive destination to the industrialists or investors.

He is for sure unfit to continue as the Chief Minister and honorably resign paving the way for President’s rule so that once again administration can be made answerable and accountable.

Since it is the Central Government that need to take initiative for time bound consultation process with all the stake holders of Andhra Pradesh, President’s rule and firm handling of law and order problems help cool the emotional tempers within the state and provide conducive atmosphere for the consultations and solution to the problem that has the potential to drive out jobs, drive out investors and  completely damage the brand image of Hyderabad that has been carefully built up by successive governments starting with Chandrababu Naidu.

Further the state witnessed a possible sex scandal involving the highest constitutional authority of the state 'Governor' leading to his resignation. It is rare that persons of such high order face such charges and the central government has now appointed a new governor known for his ability to handle complex situations with a firm hand. He may well turn out to be the replacement of the Chief Minister too within a few days.

A chief minister without popular support, a chief minister whose cabinet has no confidence and majority of legislators quitting the assembly can not continue to preside over the destiny of the people.  He need to resign and pave the way for the Central rule for damage control and restoration of peace and order.
