Animal Kingdom Wins Kentucky Derby
The Kentucky Derby is one of the most prized competitions for Kentuckians and people who love horse races all around the country. Animal Kingdom came in 1st to win the Derby yesterday. For the second time, a horse who won Turfway’s Spiral Stakes has won the Kentucky Derby.
"Animal Kingdom took over going into the final turn and pulled away down the stretch to win the 137th Run for the Roses by 2¾ lengths. Lil E. Tee was the first to do it in 1992."
By matching Lil E. Tee spectators drew merry surprise by the final finish. Nehro placed and Mucho Macho Man, who was third in the Turfway Race, showed. It marks the second time that two horses who have run in the Spiral Stakes have placed in the money in the same year. Crowds roared as that Derby came to the end and many horse race lovers wait anticipating next years competition.
Animal Kingdom came with a late run to win the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs with Aidan O’Brien’s Master Of Hounds running respectably in fifth. Having his first ever run on a dirt surface, Animal Kingdom quickened up in fine style down the centre of the track to give jockey John Velazquez his first win in the special race. Shackleford took the field along and was still in front turning into the straight when Nehro eventually wore him down. Unfortunately for Nehro he had barely taken the lead before Graham Motion’s. Animal Kingdom swept by for a fine win. Much Macho Man was third.
