Ann Coulter, a U.S. right wing lawyer was invited by University of Ottawa's Provost Francois Houle to speak on campus... and to abide by Canada's hate laws.

Coulter took this letter to heart and filed a human rights complaint, outlining her rights to free speech, which she felt the letter violated. She then wrote a counterattack blog called O Canada for conservative media site Human Events.

A mass protest at the University of Ottawa did  prevent her attendance as fears for Coulter's safety canceled the event.  Coulter earns up to $10,000 for each speaking engagement and still collected her speakers fee.

Calgary, Alberta is her next stop and believed to be more receptive.
