Canadian Forces in Khandahar sadly announced another death of a soldier today in AfghanistanSapper Steven Marshall died as a result of an IED attack Southwest of Khandahar City.

Sapper Marshall had only been in Afghanistan for one week.  He is a member of 1 Combat Engineer Regiment stationed in Edmonton Alberta.

The incident happened during a patrol in Panjawaii District.  No one else was injured during the incident.

Sapper Marshall was 24 years old.  His death follows on the heels of Lieutenant Boyes who had died while on a foot patrol.

Sapper Marshall is the 133rd casualty to die in Afghanistan.

Another Canadian solider has died in Afghanistan. Officials say that Sapper Steven Marshall died in an IED explosion southwest of Kandahar city Friday.

Marshall was a member of the 1st Combat Engineering Regiment, which is based in Edmonton, Alta. He is the 133rd Canadian casualty to die in combat in Afghanistan.

Marshall's unit was on patrol in Panjwaii district when the blast occurred. There were no other injuries.

The 24-year-old solider had only been in the country for a week before the blast.

The latest casualty comes less than a week after 26-year-old Lt. Justin Garrett Boyes died while on foot patrol.

Sad thing is that he was only there for one week.

He was too young to die. I hate this war.

My sympathy to his family friends.

These guys just finished training at the Canadian Maneuvre Training Centre in June.  Those IEDs are still the biggest threat
