Rajaji National Park:India

Two peson were caught by the Special Task Force from the Rajaji National Park on Wednesday with a six feet wide and four feet long skin of a leopard.

Apart from this 7 live snake were also recovered from their possession which obviously they were taking for trade in International Market.

Once again the smuggling of animal skin in the Rajaji National area has come to fore.

The two suspects were caught at the dry river belt area near Anadostav Ashram. The two suspects are from the raiwala area, 3 cobra snake,2 python were recovered from them. The police has registered the case against them.

On the other hand the park Rangers have washed their hand by stating that this does not fall in their range and is beyond their jurisdiction which raises the question of nexus between the Park Officers and the smugglers.Whereas the Special Task Force ae bent upon showing the catch in the Rajaji National Park Area.

Amidst this milieu it is now confirmed that the wild life animal smugglers are active in the region and take full advantage of the insensitive attitude of the Park Officials.

The officials always try to give such reports of illegal trade eyewash when contacted.

The value of the animal parts and skin is immense in the inernational market.

The government should come out with strict laws against the perpetrators.

A public campaign will only awaken the Park Officials to the problem.
