Another Strong Earthquake Struck Japan

A magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck southeast of Tokyo at Thursday morning at 7:49 a.m. local time, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Earlier this week, a manitude-6.4 earthquake struck Japan, killing one and injuring more than 120. This new quake was the third quake that hit central Japan since Aug. 9. The quake was centered of Hachijojima Island, 186 miles southeast of Tokyo, at a depth of 40 kilometers. It could be felt across much of central Japan, including Tokyo.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The agency said there was no danger of a tsunami.
