It hasn't even been a month since an American tourist who was also surfing was attacked at Playa Troncones in La Union Guerrero.
This Friday Oswaldo Mata 21 years old was attacked at Pantla about 10 km from the previous attack and died without receiving any medical assistance, after the shark bit off his right hand and leg.

On May 1st, Zihuatanejo’s port authorities killed at least eleven sharks (including young sharks) and exposed them as hunting trophies in an attempt to avoid “bad tourist image” after Adrian Ruiz, an American tourist died as a result of a shark attack and the lack of medical attention last April the 28th in Playa Troncones.

Government entities such as Guerrero’s ministry of the environment (SEMAREN) claim that fishermen have committed to avoid the irrational killing of sharks.
