A picture of a small part of Saturday's crowd to the east of the White House crowding the street leading to Pennsylvania Avenue.

So how many people were at the protest? Good question - Fox News said it was about 5,000. The New York Times simply said "thousands" and Democracy Now estimated between 75,000 and 100,000.

It was impossible to know. The rally took place at Lafayette Park, but attendees spilled out onto adjoining streets. Not everyone fit into any one section of the Capital lawn, and even then they spilled out onto the street behind the trees and out of view.

With all that in mind, using the SWAG* method we can guesstimate that anywhere between 50,000 and 75,000 people were marching that day.
