Anthony Weiner Rant During 9/11 Health Care Debate
Anthony Weiner (D-NY) brought the Brooklyn heat to the US House of Representatives following a failed 9/11 health care vote. Weiner railed against "cowardly" Republicans who hid behind procedural claims to shoot down the bill.
The House of Representatives was debating a bill to provide $7.4 billion in health care for rescue workers suffering long-term health problems from their efforts in the 9/11 aftermath. The bill failed to get the required two-thirds majority (final vote was 255-159).
The video is a must-see: "pissed off" doesn't even begin to cover it.
Weiner spat: "It's Republicans wrapping their arms around Republicans, rather than doing the right thing on behalf of the heroes!"
Anthony Weiner's outburst caught the attention of The Guardian's Michael Tomasky, who rightly points out that US Democrats are generally strangers to public outbursts of passion.
They just need to show people they have some fight in them. This Weiner rant should be for them a galvanizing ( or -nising) capital-M moment. Republicans are using procedural excuses to deny health monitoring services to 9-11 rescue workers. Period. How much more black and white can it get? This is a huge winner for them if they understand how to use it.

Right. If you scream and stamp your feet with enough emotion, that makes the money magically appear out of nowhere. Is it selling? Really? Is it selling to the moderate swing voters?. . . Oh, and BTW, Canadians can shut the fuck up when it comes to political commentary on countries other than their own. You run your little Socialist Utopia into the ground and let us work through our value debates.

How can you say such a foolish thing. Anthony is talking about money for the Heros of 9/11 and thier widows for health care. Why wouldn't you vote yes for that? It shouldn't matter if you're a Dem or Rep. Everyone was affected by 9/11 and we should take care of our heros and thier families....
