Anti-gay group endorses Mitt Romney
A few stories about gay rights and the opposition to gay rights, in the United States.
The Alaska Family Council, an anti-gay group in that state, sent e-mails to individuals that they could register to vote at the polls. While we enjoy this right in Wisconsin, they don't in Alaska. This group sent this e-mail to reduce the turnout for a measure in Anchorage which would ban bias based on sexual orientation and sexual identity. I thought their god (all these groups are very religious) said bearing false witness, was a bad thing?
In Nevada, Beverely Sevick, 73 and Mary Baranovich, 76 of Carson City, filed a federal lawsuit to challenge that state's ban on same sex marriages. They have been together for 41 years. Longer than I have been alive. I guess people like this are a "threat" to marriage, that anti-gay folks are always talking about.
Ah, the so called National Organization for Marriage has endorsed Mitt Romney for president. They would rather have the fanatical anti-gay Rick Santorum as their candidate, but you can't always get what you want. Is Romney comfortable with an organization that views gay men and gay women as the biggest threat to society, more so than terrorists?
Of course, if you want to support gay rights, you can join organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign.
