This afternoon at about 4:20 p.m., I was walking down Main St. near Pender in Chinatown when I noticed this huge "Riot 2010" banner. When I walked back 15 minutes later it was gone.

Just a sandwich board remained that read, "Olympic Resistance Network Press Conference".

Very interesting, Olympics are not a popular topic these days (not that they ever were in many communities).  Thanks for the post!

The olympics are only unpopular in Canada with a minute but voval minority of rent-a-protestors.  If you watch the news broadcasts of these anti-Olympics protestors you will see many familiar faces from such enlightened movements as; The Anti-Poverty Committee (extreme leftist welfare bums), PIVOT Legal Society (pro heroin and pro crack cocaine lobby group), The Native Youth Movement (anti-caucasion protestors), Olympic Resistance Network (which describes itself as "an opportunity for all anti-capitalist, Indigenous, anti-poverty, labour, migrant justice, environmental justice, anti-war and anti-colonial activists).

These are NOT representative of mainstream British Columbians.  They are not representative of mainstream Vancouverites and (speaking as one) the are not representative of mainstream working class East Vancouverites.  As a matter of fact they wouldn't know working class if it hit them in the heads with their lunchboxes since they are mostly on welfare and believe that they should not have to work but that the taxpayer should provide them with all their needs.

They protest anytyhing that represents the values of mainstream Canadians.  They are anti-Canadian.  They are fringe elements and will be ignored by anyone with a critical eye and a functioning brain.

I love how you lumped every possible stereotype you could possibly muster into one irrelevant argument Ray. Well done, it's good someone can pass judgment so fully and speak for such a large group of people.
