Anti-Qaddafi forces on the move
It has been another night of intense fighting throughout Libya as anti and pro-Qaddafi forces battle it out in towns west of the capital. Anti-Qaddafi forces continue to advance tword Tripili, securing strategic towns along the way. Associated Press repoters on the ground have confirmed that anti-Qaddafi fighters have advanced to the towns of Ras Lanouf and Brega and have them under control.
This morning in the Capital of Tripoli, thousands of pro-Qaddafi supporters streamed into Green Square, celebrating and claiming an overnight victory while waving flags and firing their guns in the air.
Although the capital was rocked by gunfire in the early morning hours it has been reported by Libyan Officials as being celebratory.
With both sides of this conflict claiming overnight victories it is difficult to gauge exactly what the situation is in Libya. This latest video supplied by the Associated Press shows anti-Qaddfi forces in the town of Ras Lanouf where only sporadic fighting was taking place this morning. When speaking to the Associated press reporter one of the fighters explained how they were going to continue the move west to the capital of Tripoli. (See Video)...
Throughout the night and some of the morning Libyan air-strikes were called in to stop the advance of anti-Qaddafi fighters moving west to the capital. As of yet. any injuries from those strikes have not been reported
With both sides boasting victories it is clear that what may have started as a peaceful protest has deteriorated into an all out war. As U.S forces move closer to the region it seems to be inevitable that the situation in Libya will get worse long before it gets better.
