I am no bee expert but I strongly suspect these are africanized honeybees " killer bees". I certainly know they are in coastal Texas. Comparative images on the Internet show the africanized bees have a darker abdomen the european honey bees. This small cluster was on a post at the beach. It was just cool enough for them to mostly be inactive. I have been chased and stung several times in the Arizona deserts.
