Some Arab newspapers have accused Israel of being involved in the deadly car bombing in Damascus in which 17 persons were killed on Saturday.
Although investigation into the incident would fix the responsibility for the attack, some columnists of Arab newspapers were quick in concluding that Tel Aviv was involved in the dead attack.
AMMAN: Israel's Mossad spy agency was behind a deadly car bomb attack in Damascus on Saturday which killed 17 people, according to a columnist in the Jordanian semi-official daily Al-Dustur.
"It's a US-backed Israeli conspiracy to destabilise the Syrian regime and create enough chaos to produce an opposition that would develop and grow under the sponsorship of Israel and the United States," Hashem al-Khaledi wrote in an editorial on Sunday.
"They seek to topple the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, who is seen by the United States and Israel as an obstacle facing their schemes in the region."
Without making specific allegations, Syrian official daily Ath Thawra said on Sunday that recent acts of "terrorism" in the country had been planned abroad, and that their perpetrators crossed the border to carry them out.
"Syrian security is solid but the region is throbbing with terrorists," it said. "We need to protect our frontiers to prevent infiltration by terrorists, explosions and acts of sabotage."
Al-Watan daily, which is close to the Damascus government, said: "The list is long of those who refuse to let Syria live in security and peace. It begins with Israel, passes via the information and militias deployed in (neighbouring) countries and ends with Islamist groups which interpret religion badly."

Tikun,
What don't you like about this story?

What is there to like tikun? It is news and not good news either, nevertheless news that needs to be read and known. It is one side of the story, as all stories there are at least 3 sides, His and Hers and the Truth. And at times the Truth is more on his side then hers and vice versa and that is what the news is all about, trying to find the truth and expose it. In this case difficult actually to know.

What does this have to do with a crowd powered media. To take a news item verbatim from another source without even a comment looks like a fine line to me. It was my understanding that we need crowd powered media not other news sources just to be put up on now public. what is the real purpose of just copying news items here. There are any number of web sites for that. If I am misunderstanding what now public is about I stand corrected. I hope that this is not what this site is about. some originality is needed to power the crowd dont you honestly think? I am not exactly refering to this item that is so old news by now since it has been all over the net and middle east news sources that to put it here is a bit redundent.

I do agree that this is not a good NP post in the sense that it does not have an intro nor some comments of the one that posted it, nor is it well balanced and does show only one side of the story, however it is news and Hussain can still edit this post and make it conform with NP rules and guide lines as I PM him on to do, what you could have done as well tikun.

You have work to do! Be sure to send me a private message when you post your original story.
Tikun,
I agree with you. But I also see CJ sites as places to share "news" and points of view from different parts of the world. This post is from a Pakistani website/paper, quoting a Jordanian columnist and a Syrian newspaper.
This "news" or point of views are not readily available in western media. That is what I like about it.

Tikun, I just wanted to highlight what the Arab media said. As Heritage has already mentioned, I too think it is part of CJ and crowd-powered media that an issue that might interest many around the world is highlighted with original source to share it with people around the world. Neither NP members are judges nor investigators and respondents, too. And that's it.

Hi Hussain,
My intent was not to criticize you personally in any way. Just to understand how to make a news item from another source your own. I also seem to have been spoiled since living in the Middle East I have seen this story come up in all our local papers and of course in our neighbors media as well. Always interested in knowing what is going on in your part of the world.

Shalom Heritage,
Wish you all a very good new year according to the Jewish calender. It is 5769 as of Monday evening which is determined by the lunar year. It is quite an amazing experience to be living in Israel when the entire country is celebrating and reflecting in some way or another. This is a unique and a rather blessed event here in the "Holyland". The country pretty much quiets down and enjoys sharing food and drink with family and friends. Prayers for thanksgiving and joy of life is part of the process. Prayers for the rememberance of the fallen in the wars, the down trodden and poor in Israel and through out the world are of serious concern and is the focus at this time of the year especially. charity or rather the giving to others less fortunate are strongly encouraged at this time and of course not at the exclusion of daily giving.
We ALL pray for peace here and around the world.
blessings to all of you

That sounds great. Do the celebrations include the Arab Israelis?

Is food shared with Arab Israelis/ Palestinians ?

Is charity given to the 1.5 million Gazans living in the world's largest prison?

You forgot to mention the Gazans' actual jailers: Hamas. You know, the guys who wanted to kill Paul McCartney. You sound like you're a ........ Who is it, hiding behind that "Heritage" alias? Reveal yourself, if you dare.
at 14:39 on September 28th, 2008
I'm an Australian living in Taiwan. You know that already. I believe a Palestinian life, an American life and an Israeli life are all equal.
All has been revealed....
Gazans' actual jailers: Hamas.
Israel controls Gaza therefore they are the jailers....

I really do not know anything about you. Your blogs also use anonymous aliases. So do not know who or what you are.
Life may be equal but there are those who lose their souls. Do you equate evil with good too?

A good and peaceful new year to you as well Steven.

Rene, I think you have no right to launch a personal attack. If Heritage has posed some questions, what's harm in it. How can Hamas be jailers when the Gaza is controlled by Tel Aviv? Please be logical not sentimental.
