I recently attended the national service learning conference in Minneapolis. One of the keynote speakers was Desmond Tutu, which I didn't realize before I went. What an honor to be in the presence of such an amazing person.
The two 7th graders I was with both said, "Who?" I had to explain that although they may not recognize now what an important moment this is, they should remember this the rest of their lives.
How many people get to hear a Nobel Laureate speak?
How many people get to be this close to a world leader?
I consider myself one of the lucky ones.
