Are Banks, Post Offices Open on Independence Day, July 4, 2012?

The 4th of July is considered a public holiday in the United States, so don't count on doing any banking or any business with the government on July 4th. That could be kind of inconvenient since this year the 4th of July falls mid-week.

As a rule, most banks, such as J.P. Morgan, are not open on the 4th of July. That being said, there may be exceptions so it may be worth checking with your local branch just to be sure.

Is There Mail Delivery on the 4th of July?

The U.S. post office also observes the 4th of July as a holiday so no post will be delivered on that holiday. Mail will be delivered again starting July 5.
