The Ontario municipal elections are over and voters have spoken.  The dark horse candidate who no one expected to win in left of centre Toronto was Rob Ford of Toronto, a municipal councilor, now mayor elect who steamrolled over the competition.

Rob Ford, whose election catch phrase was “Stop the Gravy Train” took him to Toronto’s top spot as mayor of one of Canada’s largest city.   Toronto voters who voted against Ford were aghast as were many media outlets that were anti Ford and pro Smitherman for mayor.  Many felt Mr. Ford winning was as likely as winning the Lotto Max.

Toronto voters angered by the status quo by ineffective actions of previous mayors accused of self-aggrandizing for their own political fortunes, taxed voters every which way.

Torontonians voted in record numbers 47% of the popular vote driving a Ford to the mayoralty chair once polls closed at a unprecedented speed of 0 to 10 minutes.

Voter anger fueled Fords popularity and led to the downfall of the incumbent and other mayoralty candidates who’s only voting hook seem to be “Vote for anyone but Ford”.

While it is yet to be seen how Ford will sate the angry taxpayer, it is clear Fords campaign promises to clean up the city, eradicate bloated spending and high taxes are what taxpayers want.

Toronto and Vancouver seem to share the same angry taxpayers who have seen their ever mounting tax dollars serving special interests while the erosion of services at every turn.

Vancouver municipal elections are next year, while many Vancouverites are displeased with previous mayors vision of Vancouver, including the current Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson whose bicycle lane fiasco, Olympic village spending and other costly projects, including a fowl vision of chickens in every backyard enough to get Vancouver voters angry enough to drive a Ford to the next election?

For those voters who feel they are the last angry man or woman perhaps you can do something about it below.

BC Municipal Elections has a fine list of FAQ for anyone looking to run, either as a Ford or any vehicle of their choosing.
