Arizona governor expected to head Homeland Security
President Elect Barack Obama is slowly sewing up his team and after considering Hillary Clinton for Secretary of the State job, his choice for homeland security is Arizona governor. Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano has been chosen to serve as secretary of the vast and troubled Department of Homeland Security for President-elect Barack Obama.
Napolitano has had stint as the Grand Canyon State's first female attorney general. One of the nation's most prominent female elected officials. Afyer endorsing Obama in early January, just as the primaries were kicking off., she made frequent appearances on behalf of Obama during the campaign.
U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's top choice to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing multiple sources.
The Democratic governor, a supporter and campaigner for Obama's presidential campaign, had been reported to be on a short list of people to fill cabinet posts in the new administration.
CNN also reported that Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker was Obama's pick for commerce secretary.
