Arizona Passes SB1070 Immigration Bill To Curb Illegal Immigrants

The SB1070 bill, deemed the toughest immigration legislature in the country, has been passed by the Arizona House of Representatives on Tuesday. The bill, which can change the way of life for thousands of illegal immigrants living in Arizona, was voted 35:21.
The new SB1070 Arizona immigration bill lets the state police perform checks on a "reasonable suspicion" that a person might be an illegal immigrant and make arrests for not carrying ID papers. Previously, police could not stop and check identification papers on a mere suspicion that someone might be an illegal immigrant. Police could only ask about an individual's immigration status if they are suspected of involvement in another crime.
It is now feared that the new bill will be used as a leeway for racial profiling, especially for the numerous Latino immigrants living in the state.
The passing of the SB1070 bill comes in the wake of the murder of local rancher Robert Krentz. It is alleged Krentz, 58, was killed after a confrontation with illegal immigrants in a potential case of drug carter scout, theft or retaliation.
In a press release posted on the website of Arizona State Legislature, the Arizona lawmakers called the new bill a new way to "protect churches, community organizations and civil rights."
“[The bill] gives our local police officers the tools they need to combat illegal immigration, while protecting the civil rights of citizens and legal residents.”
The pro-immigration opponents of the new immigration bill protested the legislature and called the new law unconstitutional. The groups fear that the bill will make Arizona a "police state" and further strain relations between police and the immigrant community.
Arizona's Republican Governor Jan Brewer will have to sign the bill into law. Already, there is a petition online urging Arizonians to speak out against the bill and convince Governor Brewer to boycott the legislature.

The real truth is that there are over 20 million plus illegal aliens in this nation. They have all spat on our sovereign laws, our flag, and our constitution to break into America. Then demonstrate in our streets, branding foreign flags and demand their Civil rights. The intention was there, no matter the cause to enter America without means of financial support. The cesspool of businesses that employed foreigners, rather than a US citizen-resident cannot be forgiven and there should be a composite of heavy fines, business asset confiscation and imprisonment? There should be no conciliation for gainfully profiting on the backs of their own people? An estimated eight million foreign nationals have jobs, while the number of Americans seeking work is over 15 million and still accelerating. Another grand travesty is that the US State Department issues approximately 1.5 million work visas annually. I agree as the majority of Americans that we can always make room for highly intelligent, skilled workers that can be elusive commodity in our country. But what we--DON'T-- need are mediocre immigrant job seekers from other lands that our own workforce must teach job skills, before those employees receive a pink slip. Immigration attorneys have been proven time and time again on fudging a person’s qualifications, to import into this country, large contingents of low skilled legal immigrants from countries with impoverished wages. The biggest issue here businesses cut jobs, and the low skilled are the first to go. That means the taxpayer becomes the payee of hundreds of thousands of people, who ultimately end up in the government entitlement programs. The E-Verify program with successful modifications could be used to disclose illegal immigrants, defrauding the welfare benefits system. ICE should recycle audits and even make lightening raids on previously visited companies. E-Verify must be instigated permanently and not a voluntary illegal alien reducer in auto licenses, vehicle registration, health care and other pertinent identification processes. Whereas the highly, technically skilled soon find a new employer. THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS, WE CAN DO WITHOUT THE LANDSCAPERS, JANITORS, AND CONSTRUCTION LABOR, AS WE HAVE MILLIONS OF US CITIZENS-RESIDENTS WHO CAN DO THESE MANUAL JOBS? The real $ cost of the illegal alien invasion has remained intentionally undisclosed by our Senators and Congressman. Few states admit the expenditures, especially California? Arizona legislators have seen the financial errors caused by blanket immigration to that state. Finally it will be signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer, the most restrictive measures to give law enforcement the ability to question any individual they deem as suspicious of illegal entry. Condemnation is already appearing from the National media generated by the open border advocacy organizations.ONE THINGS FOR SURE, THAT IF THE PEOPLE OF ARIZONA DIDN'T WANT THIS LAW PASSED? IT WOULD NEVER EVEN HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED? Illegal immigration has become a nationwide battleground and the economic aspect it, would pay for all our foreign wars? Arizona illegal immigrants who realize their time is up, will now flood California as there is no enforcement there. Everything goes? Including citizens-residents welfare befits for illegal aliens.That why the Sanctuary State has massive deficits? Years of complete and utter irrelevance has allowed this illegal occupation to happen. To even consider another mass amnesty is beyond outrageous, beyond anything comprehensible. Our Lawmakers, who are subservient to the moneyed open border lobbyists or the radical ethnocentric organizations, WILL BE REMEMBERED IN UPCOMING ELECTIONS. Sen. Harry Reid, Pelosi, McCain, Schumer, Graham the Pro-Amnesty incumbent will be removed. Unless the high population of illegal aliens in Nevada vote for him? Yes! They will vote. I agree. This ridiculous. You know this sounds very familiar... ummm i don't know maybe, the Holocaust! They had to carry around documentation and wear the Jewish star, that way German officials knew who they were. It's an excuse for racist people to hate on others.

Really...the holocast? We all, yes US citizens, have to carry documentation on a daily basis, it is called a driver's license or a photo ID. We all need it to get banks accounts, credit cards, jobs, etc. There is no reason that legal immigrants should be any different. They should have to carry whatever documents that are given to them to say they are here legally. If they don't have it, they should be deported.

Yes, Dawn C. I agree. Let's deport all immigrants. I would LOVE to see all immigrants leave this country and go somewhere else. That way, when all the low-wage, hard-working jobs are left without a post and people with skill to actually work them, the United States can employ you and maybe your family members to work for $5/hour to keep the country running. Deport all immigrants? Sure thing. Go ahead and see if this country can keep afloat. Oh, and newsflash....we are ALL immigrants. "Americans" immigrated from Europe, raped the land from the natives who already lived here, and then had the audacity to institute laws designated to keep it for themselves. Oh, and just so everyone is aware, the oldest city in this country is San Agustin (it's now spelled St. Augustine), Florida. That is a tired and invalid argument. The ONLY reason illegals can afford to take the "jobs that legals don't want" is because they are often living 10 to a house, not paying taxes and send their paychecks to a country it costs half as mcuh to live in. If illegals did not get paid cash, had to pay rent for their familesin California or Arizona and their families had to live on those wages HERE instead of Mexico...guess what?? They could not do it either.

Surely you realize the issue isn't over the requirement to carry documentation. If that were the crux of the issue then there wouldn't be much of an issue as you are absolutely right. We are all subject to provide documentation of identity to a law enforcement officer if it is asked of us. No one is questioning that part of the law, it's the choice in choosing who and why identification will be asked of. Have you ever been asked to provide identification because of the color of your skin, or the features of your face. I'm guessing not.

Not hate, just frustration. I haven't heard anyone say that we don't approve of "legal" immigration. We, US citizens, want people to follow the rules set by the federal/state government, just like all other legal immigrants in the past. We are tired of paying the bill for all the illegals and the illegal criminals that come into our country. We are still the land of the free, but do it the right way for goodness sake. As for jobs that the illegals take from us, if they weren't here, our citizens would gladly take those jobs, especially now with the economy in a downturn.

It's not tue that all American will take those jobs that are done by immagrants, that is why you see THESE legal American people who are drunk, homeles, and asking for money on the side of the freeways. Oh and also on welfare, but yet we do have to pay for those who are legal criminals that are incarcerated and pay for their expensess. Everyone in this country is a foriegner whos ancestor came here too, and I know that they did not come here with legal documents. Not all the people that come, are here to take your jobs, your benifits, they work for it. I know that there are exceptions, but why should everybody suffer for the ones who breaks the law.

they are "welcome to stay"? No! They earned the RIGHT to stay. You talk like you are doing them a personal favor by saying they can stay while they have just as much right to be here as you. They passed their immigration test and they have their papers, so not only do they have the Right to stay exactly where they are, they also have to RIGHT to not be discriminated against because of the color of their skin. That is what this comes down to, an illegal immigrant is an illegal immigrant, however, a legal immigrant is an American citizen and is entitled to the same rights as everyone else. Our outrage for SB1070 is not because we agree with illegal immigration, it is because this bill is racist and discriminatory as well as unjust.

how is it hate by wanting to ensure that people enter this country legally? if you were to go into any other country in the world you would be tossed out or WORSE if you had entered ilegally so why should the united states be expected to just let you come and go however you want all the while reeping the benefits of the hardworking people (black, white, latino, etc) that are living here legally? it has absolutely NOTHING to do with hate and everything to do with the fact that i work, pay taxes, and contribute to this country the way a citizen should and if you are going to enjoy this country YOU SHOULD HAVE TO ALSO! why is should it be my job to carry your way ?
