Date for return of democracy in Bangladesh has been fixed.December 18 has been fixed for election.Leaders of two major political party is out of jail, and they are ready to face the public after much hyped corruption charges.which party will come to power is tough to predict, because the fundamentalist forces are getting stronger day by day. These small parties are going to eat vote share of both the major parties. In this kind of situation , how the coalition will be formed , is going to decide the future of democracy in Benglaesh.

"We will hold an election to choose a new parliament on December 18," Fakhruddin Ahmed, said in a televised address.

Fakhruddin said the Election Commission had confirmed the election date to him, as well as dates for the rural upazilla (sub-district) polls on Dec. 24 and 28.

He said he believed the election would lead to "restoration of a real democracy" in the south Asian country.

A state of emergency, imposed in January 2007, will be eased or lifted before the polls to allow free campaigning.

The two major parties, led by former prime ministers Begum Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina, would take part in the poll, Fakhruddin said.

The interim government, which took charge following violence after Khaleda ended her five-year tern in power in October 2006, cancelled an election due on January 22 last year and launched a crackdown on corruption.
