Army private’s military trial over WikiLeaks disclosures to start
The court martial of U.S. Army private Bradley Manning will start on Monday at a courtroom in Fort Meade, Maryland. Manning is facing life imprisonment on charges of aiding the enemy after he passed confidential diplomatic cables and war logs to WikiLeaks in 2010.
Army Col. Denise Lind will act as the judge during the military trial expected to last at least 12 weeks and involve about 150 witnesses.
