Arrested development: Randy Quaid and wife seek refugee status
Randy Quaid, Oscar nominated Hollywood actor, arrested by Vancouver police on Friday seems to be reprising his National Lampoon Vacation role as Cousin Eddie by claiming refugee status to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Randy Quaid and his wife Evi Quaid (Evzenya Motolanez) claim they fear for their lives back in Hollywood stating to Canada Border Service Agency officials that Star Whackers are systematically killing actors, using deceased actors David Carradine and Heath Ledger as past examples.
Canada on the other hand, with our generous refugee system seems to be taking Randy Quaids refugee request under consideration.
While Quaid’s accusations of Star Whackers seems plausible, a more likely explanation why Randy, wife in tow are fleeing Hollywood is due to their unorthodox lifestyle ranging from credit card fraud, burglary and criminal trespass which can only be described as something his cousin Eddie character would come up with.
While some charges were later dropped, how the Quaids could have entered Canada in the first place remains unclear as Canadian law prevents convicted criminals entering Canada without ministerial approval and person with criminal records are stopped at the Canadian Port of Entry.
Perhaps the reason Quaid chose Canada would prevent Dog also has a previous criminal record would be ineligible to come into Canada, but then the Quaids did not seem to have any problem, so who knows.
Susan Saradon, anti anything remotely conservative once stated during the McCain-Obama U.S. Presidential election that if McCain ever became president, she would pack up and hightail it to Canada.
Evi Quaid has said she would like to work with the homeless, perhaps a first person perspective no doubt and a job skill in demand in Vancouver. Mayor Gregor, are you listening?
