Arroyo faces fourth impeachment bid
After dismissing three impeachment attempts, the incumbent president of Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is to face a fourth one. This time, the opposition impeachment bid is based on allegations of corruption involving Chinese firm ZTE Corp and vote-rigging. Controlling the House of Representatives which is dominated by her allies, Arroyo rejected those allegations. Her current presidential term ends in 2010.
The president of the Philippines is facing a further impeachment bid - the fourth - over allegations of corruption and vote-rigging, but the government is predicting it will fail. Opposition groups filed a complaint against Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Monday, in which they made new allegations of corruption, extra-judicial killings, torture and illegal arrests. The complaint included charges of misconduct in a proposed telecommunications deal involving Chinese firm ZTE Corp, said Jose de Venecia III, a complainant and the son of a former House speaker who lost the bid for the project. Arroyo, who won a six-year term in a presidential election in 2004, has denied any wrongdoing. She will not be eligible to seek re-election in 2010. Anthony Golez, a presidential spokesman, accused the complainants of being self-serving at a time when the country needed to brace against impacts of the global financial crisis. He said the latest impeachment bid contained recycled allegations that had no chance of success, likening it to "replaying a movie that never took off". Arroyo has fended off three impeachment attempts over the past three years, with the House of Representatives, dominated by her allies, dismissing them on technicalities."If you look at the numbers, it's really an uphill battle," said Teodoro Casino, an opposition legislator who backed past impeachment attempts.
"But it's not just a complaint," he said. "It's a political statement, an exercise of our right to stand up against official wrongdoing."

Yes thats true but lets have many more new ideas this stands out like a sore thumb as a one minute piece of fame, the Philippines has to move into the 21st century and the only people that can motivate that fully are the 6% of the people of whom have most of the Philippine wealth at present their actions are not inspiring they are not patriotic and most care a damn about the poverty here. They pass it by each day like blind men and women.
The main problems are corruption, the catholic church and responsible birth control. With these things put in check the Philippines would soar and the pride could be very real and perminent. I cry for the Philippines............

This photo was taken during the informal visits of President Arroyo and her delegates in one of the communities in Sta. Mesa. (Brgy. 629, Zone 63). i want to share my other photos of the event to show that she is a very hard working President and many of the populace didnt know it happened. A historical event among the residents of Brgy. Hipodromo in Sta. Mesa. and according to the President (if i may recall it right)..Hipodromo is the first Horse-Racing track in the Philippines.
