Arson probe after school blaze
The huge fire that destroyed a school in Suffolk, England yesterday afternoon may have been arson, authorities said today. Luckily the 400 pupils who attend the school were not in session when the blaze, which took more than 70 firefighters to put out, began.
A fire which tore through a school may have been started deliberately, police have said.
St Felix Middle School in Newmarket, Suffolk, was virtually destroyed by the blaze on Tuesday afternoon.
More than 70 firefighters tackled the inferno at its height and crews remained at the site dampening down throughout the night.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said there were no reports of any casualties.
A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: "The fire is being investigated as a possible arson."
