A 27-Year-Old Dance Teacher From Plainfield North High School, Named Ashley M. Blumenshine, Was Arrested For Having Sex With a Student

Police allegedly caught Blumenshine having sex with the 16-year-old boy in a parking lot and she has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse according to the Chicago Sun Times.

She was reportedly caught outside Kohl's when officers were on patrol checking the parking lot and saw two vehicles unoccupied next to each other. They saw Blumenshine in the driver's seat of one car with the minor in the back.

Both admitted they had just had consensual sex and a condom was taken into evidence.

“(Blumenshine) told police she knew he was a student at Plainfield North High School,” Fillipitch told Judge Marzell L. Richardson during a bond hearing Wednesday.

Blumenshine had taught in the school district since 2006, and coached golf at Plainfield North.

She was also an assistant cheerleading coach at Plainfield South High School in the 2006-07 school year.
District spokesman Tom Hernandez said a substitute teacher has taken over Blumenshire’s classes.
“District administration and the board of education will take appropriate action promptly after Blumenshine is released from custody,” he said in a statement.

Students have been offered counselling.
