Ashley wins again!

Great news from the District conference. Our own Ashley Antoine was a popular winner of the District final of the Rotary 4 Way Test Speaking Contest, held at Burswood in front of Rotarians from around the district on Saturday.
Members will remember that Ashley was the winner of our Club’s first round back in October, which makes her “ours” – although strictly speaking she is Corpus Christi’s star debater – and under the guidance of senior specialist teacher Colleen Litchfield she continues to develop outstanding skills.
Ashley’s address on “The Perfect Figure” is an appeal to stop putting pressure on young girls by promoting an unhealthy obsession with impossible body sizes. One of the special aspects of her item is the way that she has absorbed the tenets of the 4 Way Test* into the debate.
Ashley now moves on to the next challenge, the state final which will be held at Guildford Grammar School at 6.30pm on May 1. Given her outstanding performance to date, Ashley deserves our support on this great occasion. The fee will be $30 per person, and the RSVP date is 22 April.
