Eliseo Soriano, former leader and presiding minister of a christian cult called "Ang Dating Daan" is a wanted fugitive. He has been on the run since he left his flock and the Philippines sometime in 2005. He is accused of raping a male follower.
We may disagree with a lot of things but anyone accused of a crime must be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Ask Bro. Eli, the "most sensible preacher" does not make sense
Eli Soriano, the fugitive televangelist wanted by the Interpol fashions himself as a great biblical resource. He even allows himself to be called “Pantas” or tagalog for "wise man". Lofty, isn’t it? He sports many monikers such as “the most sensible preacher of our times”, “phenomenal preacher”, “Walking bible”, “Modern Jeremiah”, “the appointed one”, “he who holds the key”, and others. He even stole my handle, truthcaster. Other terms he uses to describe himself are “tech savvy” and “human encyclopedia”.
But is he really all that? I looked into a few of his pronouncements and found a lot of weird stuff. Let’s together see if this man they call “wise man” make sense at all. Let’s take a look at just three things for now.
1. Sepoys of Cainta, Rizal, Philippines.
In one episode of his Philippine talk show, he was asked why some people in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines where considerably darker than others inhabitants in the area.
Not even pausing to ponder the question, he said that the reason was that the sun beats extra hot in Cainta, Rizal. Yup, that’s what he said. He said this bit with full authority as if he knew what he was talking about. He made it sound that, as a matter of fact, the sun is just hotter in Cainta, Rizal. He didn’t explain why this is so. There maybe a few reasons why the sun would beat extra harder or hotter in a certain spot, but would this make someone darker permanently? I can see some people may get a tan but to permanently change the color of the skin, and then pass this on to their children sounds a little over-reaching.
The Iglesia ni Cristo religious program Ang Tamang Daan, obviously and rightfully, not wanting this bad information to be taken as fact immediately responded with a correction and a lesson to impart an important historical detail. The reason why some people of Cainta, Rizal are considerably darker than others is because they are descendants of Sepoys who elected to remain in the Philippines. The Sepoys where Indians who served in the British army.
Way to go “wise man”. One strike for you.
2. Roman 13:13
Again in an episode of his talkshow, supposedly televangelizing a listener ask him to explain Roman 13:13. The conversation was in Tagalog and the verse in question as written in tagalog goes like this: “Magsilakad tayong mahinhin, gaya ng sa araw;”.This is the verse in English: “Let us behave properly as in the day“.
In tagalog “araw” can mean either the “sun“, or “day“. Can you guess which one “Mr Walking Bible” picked as the meaning of “araw” for this particular verse? The wrong one of course. He picked "sun".
The way he explained it made it even more hilarious. He said, "the verse instruct people to walk gracefully, just as the sun glides gracefully across the sky from morning to night". If he had only truly understood the verse, or at least read the verse in English he could have saved him a lot of embarrassment. Now is that what you would call sensible?
Way to go “Walking bible”. two strikes.
3. In another episode, Soriano tells his members that they, members of his cult, can run for public office. Then Soriano declared: ”But I will not join politics. I will not run as a candidate (for office). Why? Imagine, a preacher running for public office? Can one serve two lords? Christ didn’t allow that.“ He was referring to another filipino televangelist who ran for president and placed last in a field of five.
Then he turns and ran anyway. As luck would have it he was disqualified as a nuisance candidate by the Commission on Elections. He should add this to his monikers, “nuisanse”.
3 strikes. You’re out! and out you should go.
There you go. Just a few of the many “wisdom” from the “phenomenal preacher”. Doesn’t he give new meaning to the phrase ‘false preachers’?

Humans skin is the most visible aspect of the human phenotype. It is distinguished mainly by its naked appearance, greatly enhanced abilities to dissipate body heat through sweating, and the great range of genetically determined skin colors present within a single species. Many aspects of the evolution of human skin and skin color can be reconstructed using comparative anatomy, physiology, and genomics. Enhancement of thermal sweating was a key innovation in human evolution that allowed maintenance of homeostasis (including constant brain temperature) during sustained physical activity in hot environments. Dark skin evolved pari passu with the loss of body hair and was the original state for the genus Homo. Melanin pigmentation is adaptive and has been maintained by natural selection. Because of its evolutionary lability, skin color phenotype is useless as a unique marker of genetic identity. In recent prehistory, humans became adept at protecting themselves from the environment through clothing and shelter, thus reducing the scope for the action of natural selection on human skin.

probability:
in physical aspect, as if we on earth we can see the sun's movement, althought its the earth who actually moves, but one reality we experience and see while we are on earth the sun moves, thus ,when it moves its gracefully moving so as how the sun moves we should also move gracefully.

Put proof to mistakes that are wrong, is mind boggling by why so lengthy is that the way religious propaganda should be presented in your text book.
I however believe that Sepoy's is the most favorable and non comical answer to this wonderful peoples black beauty. lol
However I am always impressed by the poster of a priest that has his suites made in Savile Row so the collection boxes must of been brimming with gold. The pope must be livid. lol
I think I must start a new religion here in the Philippines, wow the profits must be masif.

For the sake of argument truthcaster (Conrad J. Obligacion), let's say that you are right, without accepting of course, can you please answer this:
Can you give an alternative religious denomination, or Church that you feel will lead you to the salvation of your spirit?
It is unfair that you have attracted an atheist here and you will keep on bad mouthing a phenomenal preacher, who is also called the most sensible preacher of all time - who is acknowledging the God the Father, as the Almighty God.
And to you Babel_fish, what kind of atheist are you? To which atheist group do you belong? Who is your Atheist leader? It is unfair that you go solo and blah your heads off to provide food for thought to the people who reads your human ideas, but then again, if you are wrong and your brain perished, you left them wondering were you've gone, down to the ditch that you don't even know where.

1. if anyone really believes in God, particularly to christians, you will not say you do not need the church which in fact christ himself, as following God's will, build the church

if you have notice the above verses we really have to be called by God in His church which is the church of God...just open your mind to the truth and base your faith in the bible and try to look for a group of people who followed the whole doctrines of christ and the preacher who base its teachings in the bible without any reservation..anyone who has faith and followed the doctrines such as in 1 timothy 2:9 and 1cor11:14 is not brainwash or force by anybody but it is a decision voluntarily done through FAITH in God.......Church of God or Ang Dating Daan is not a cult as what this detractor is trying to say...he is just mislead by his own rights....

Religion,and the fanatical belief in a supernatural god,creator,saviour,messiah, prophets, virgin mothers, blood sacrifices,rituals, apostles, or the bible,are the reasons why humanity is in so much trouble nowadays. All these unnecessary burden on the human psyche and wisdom clouded our thinking,led us to believe that we alone are the SAVED people or sect (out of billions of the world population!), drive us to condemn or judge other people,cast them into the "fire of hell", and give us FALSE HOPE of a forthcoming day of reckoning and "REVELATION" where there may be none at all; the possibility exists that all these beliefs that were handed out from civilization to civilization (because ALL ancient civilizations share this common belief or sets of belief) may have been IMAGINED or INVENTED by early men to serve as a whip,a chain or a mind conditioning tool that forced them to believe in something else aside from the perfect reasoning offered by SCIENCE,which are yet UNKNOWN to them. Think of this-- which is more dramatic: to say or write that "God created the heavens and the earth and rested on the seventh day..."? (an overly simplistic and childish belief that many scientists think originated from the earliest ape-like peoples living in caves,not from a feeble naked couple in a garden, nor the troublesome Hebrews wandering in some desert in the Middle East); or : "Everything started from an infinitesimally unimaginable burst of energy that fueled cataclysmic chain-reaction of events that led to the formation and evolution of all existing things, billions of years ago...? (can the ancients have known what these latter words mean, much less put these into oral or written form? No way! Even the bible wrongly implies in a passage that "the sun didn't set for three days over Jericho so that the chosen people can carry out their attack..." (our grade school children today know that it is the Earth that rotates in its axis,and thus it is impossible for the sun NOT TO disappear or "set" into the horizon as the earth rotated) Only ENLIGHTENED modern men armed with wisdom,understanding and learning could comprehend these concepts. So the ancients pretty much settled for the LIMITED explanation that their limited minds can comprehend. And sadly, this is why mankind has been systematically blinded and cheated by ALL RELIGIONS. And think: why would a benevolent god who supposedly "created" everything for his love of men CONCEAL everything from him and REVEAL these only to a handful of "chosen" individuals who are clearly no BETTER but maybe WORSE than the rest of the Earth's inhabitants? In the end,everything boils down to one thing: SUBMISSION. He who SUBMITS will survive and not be ANNIHILATED. The rest be DAMNED. Is this your religion? Is religion then WORTHY of an ENLIGHTENED MAN?
