NP Rank:
Atal may contest Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow
THE BHARATIYA Janata Party (BJP) has once again said that chances of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow seat were still bright. A senior UP BJP leader and MLA from the old city area of Lucknow and a close associate of Vajpayee, Lalji Tandon, told reporters that Vajpayee’s health is improving day by day and there is still some time for the Lok Sabha polls.
He said that the country needs a political leader like Atalji and a government like National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He said that Atalji himself is very concerned about Lucknow and a picture and name of Atalji will be enough for the BJP to win the Lok Sabha seat. He said that the party leaders are praying that Vajpayee contests from here.In the presence of the state BJP president Rampati Ram Tripathi, Lalji said that Vajpayee was very concerned about the developmental projects in Lucknow and when he had visited New Delhi earlier, the former PM had asked the details of Rs 1,500 crore projects.
Tandon also claimed that political parties like Samajwadi Party do not have a good candidate for the Lucknow seat. He said that Samajwadi Party candidate, Sanjay Dutt, does not have the political status nor the thought to win the elections. And Lucknow has always given the country a political leadership and the public of Lucknow will never accept a candidate like him as their representative. When asked if he would be the party candidate if Vajpayee refuses to contest at the last moment, he said he is a disciplined worker of the party and would do whatever the party wants without thinking of the outcome.
