Traffic Snarled by Atlanta Bridge Collapse

A 30-foot truck drove into a bridge in north Atlanta, causing it to collapse. The driver of the truck, as well as a woman driving in a car behind him, were trapped in the debris from the partially collapsed bridge.

The bridge collapse occurred on Bolton Rd, just south of Marietta Rd NW.

Both were freed and brought to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was more seriously injured: the truck was hit by a 20-foot piece of concrete from the bridge, which was a railroad trestle.

Rail traffic has been halted, and traffic is stopped on Bolton Road in both directions. The DOT is trying to determine if the truck had clearance to pass under the bridge.
