NP Rank:
Attack Hoaxer was a McCain Staffer, Not a Volunteer
Ashley Todd, who alleged a six foot four inch 200 pound Black man attacked her, charges later revealed to be false and manufactured, was identified as a recent volunteer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, having previously worked in New York.
Ethan Eilon, contacted in New York when the story about the alleged attack came onto the media radar, stated Ms. Todd was a volunteer for the College Republican National Committee (CRNC). He now says she was a paid staffer.
From Talking Points Memo Central (TPM), which provided the details regarding information provided by Peter Feldman, Republican Party for Pennsylvania's Communications Director, who gave the press details about the 'B' on Ms. Todd's face and the now acknowledged fabrication of statements attributed to the fictitious assailant:
Ethan Eilon, executive director of the College Republicans National Committee, told FOX News that Todd was volunteering as a field representative through his organization and that she had taken a year off from her studies at Blinn College to work on the campaign.
From a link found at the TPM article, College Republicans Executive Director Bacjtracks on Claim that "B" Hoaxer was a Volunteer :
Today it was confirmed by Ethan Eioln of the CRNC (College Republican National Committee) that she was contracted to be paid $3,600 for her August to election day work.
And:
The CRNC separated from the Republican National Committee in 2001, becoming a Section 527 organization. But as recent experience with 527s shows, that doesn't mean that significant ties were cut. The Center for Public Integrity called it one of the most successful youth-oriented fundraisers in the country, noting the more than $10.6 million it raised in a span of two years. The CRNC is clearly a major player for the Republican National Committee, receiving $25,000 from the RNC in 2002. The Center for Public Integrity also notes that most of the money raised by the group is spent on direct mail efforts and paying field representatives such as Todd.
It is disturbing that it is expected that the public will believe the McCain-Palin campaign didn't know who this young woman was, a fact that should have been easily ascertained when Senator McCain or Governor Palin made calls of support to Ashley Todd, or the McCain-Palin campaign, possibly the local and the national, chose to conceal the fact she was a paid staffer working to organize voters to vote for the Republican presidential ticket.

Staffer means paid... proof? None What about the 12 (staffers) who voted in Ohio? They are now being investigated for actual voter fraud.. where is the story on that?

Karen Hatter, so was the 'B' on her face not real then? Was it photoshopped? She didn't do it herself surely?? Sorry if I may have missed the answer to this question from before.

According to a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania newspaper, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette :
Ms. Todd's job as a field representative for the College Republican National Committee brought her to Pittsburgh about two weeks ago to recruit college students. She had worked for the committee since August. Yesterday, the organization fired her.
The story here would be that the College Republican National Committee, the organization of which Ethan Eilon, in New York, is executive director, who first stated Ashley Todd was a volunteer but, changed his story, admitting she had been hired as a field representative, while she was in New York as well, which meant he was well aware of her position within the organization if they, the College Republican National Committee, had ".... brought her to Pittsburgh ....".
So, it would seem the obvious question is, why wasn't Ms. Todd identified as being employed as a field rep when Ethan Eilon, in New York, was first contacted?
I'd venture there was an element of desiring to distance themselves from the troubled woman.
A troubled volunteer would play better than an admission that the organization had sent for her and brought her to Pittsburgh.
What most disturbs me is, when Peter Feldman, Communications Director at the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office of the College Republican National Committee, was contacted, by KDKA in Pittsburgh, after KDKA learned of the incident at the Drudge Report site, with Drudge not having any specifics regarding the attack, why would Mr. Feldman pass on such racially charged information: six foot four inch 200 pound Black man, taunting her about being a McCain supporter, teaching her a lesson, "B" for Barack, to the media and several websites?

The 'B' on her face was real. It was the superficial nature of the wound that made police suspicious.
Ms. Todd says she doesn't remember how the 'B' got on her face but, she was alone in her car and she noticed it and thought 'B' is for Barack, saying she must have done it herself.
