Did I post last week of the upcoming Queensday and the visit of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands to the town of Apeldoorn. Now we can report that this Dutch national holiday was violently disturbed by an attack on the Royal Family. An unknown Dutchman drove his car throught the crowd that had gathered on the streets and burst into a monument near the Royal Palace, het Loo.

During his flight through the crowd, the attacker killed 6 bystanders and injured another 11. Instantly police and nearby standing Red Cross volunteers run towards the victims trying to save as many lives as possible. As I was standing nearby for my part of the historical tour I took my first aid bag and jumped into the chaos to do my job.

Now afterwards many first aiders and volunteers severed serious trauma's together with the victims. The Dutch nation is mourning the deaths and wounded and wonder whetere Queensday will ever be the same. Today it is memorial day in the Netherlands and people will remember. Friday the 8th there will be a special invitees only service for the victims of this attack which the Royal family will attend.
