Vancouver Police are issuing a public warning regarding an attempted sexual assault that occurred around 11:15 p.m. on July 6th on a trail in the 3500 block of Southeast Marine Drive.

The 19 year old female victim had just exited a bus and began her walk home along a nearby trail leading north from S. E. Marine Drive when she noticed a man that she had seen at an earlier stop following her.

As the woman entered the trail she was suddenly grabbed from behind. The man tried to force her further into the trail while grabbing at her clothing.

A nearby man heard the commotion and intervened, causing the suspect to run off to the east along S.E. Marine Drive.

The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties, 6'2" with a slim build and short, lighter-coloured hair. He was wearing frameless glasses with a long sleeved blue plaid shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-2648 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

OMG, this is just in my neighborhood!  IT looks like the suspect followed her from her first bus stop.  She was riding BUS 100 and got off at the stop near Tivoli Gardens, fronting Natalia, City Edge, Sierra. Let us all be careful , and take care of your small kids.
