Just a few short months ago, many Americans including current Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, said the “surge” in Iraq would not work.  He was against the surge, along with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi [she was apparently distracted while writing her book] and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

A few tough guys stuck to their guns: President George Bush, General David Petraeus, and a retired U.S. Navy Captain named John McCain among them.
