NP Rank:
Aunt Sally Hunt
My Mother called her Aunt Sally and that’s the way that I knew her. She rented half a duplex from my grandparents, Roy and Bertha Irons in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. For the most part, Sally and Grandma had a lot of cats.
Mother told me that Sally used to have a black bear that she kept caged in the back yard. Grandpa asked her to get rid of the bear as he felt sorry for it. I have a picture of my brother and me with a black bear and I am suspicious that this could have belonged to Aunt Sally.
Anyway, Sally learned that she needed a pet of a smaller size. So, she adopted a red fox. (See the picture)
National Geographic ran a feature story this month about the domestication of foxes as they can make nice pets, eventually, when all of the kinks are worked out. Aunt Sally’s fox still had a lot of kinks.
