Victoria, Queensland and South Australia are just some of the States that have now been declared disaster zones.

As Queensland is now in clean up mode, other States / Towns are sitting and waiting, waiting to see if water levies will stay strong.

As a glimmer of hope,  hundreds of volunteers are assisting home owners with the clean-up, something they could not do alone.

Images from media outlets tell a story, one such image which has been seen by millions around the world is of a family sitting on the roof of a car, being taken away by a torrent of water, whilst a helicopter hover's ahead.

This family of three told a story of despare and helplessness, tragically the father did not make it, he was swept away.

Queensland and much of Australia will take a long time to recover from this flood, only hope and and inner-strength will assist Australia through these terrible times.
