More than 1000 Australian Tamils protested outside of primeminister's residence, against the genocidal war  in Sri Lanka against Tamil. They urged government of Australia to give pressure to Sri Lanka for an immediate and permanent cease fire. Dr. Brian Seneviratne, an activist from Sri Lanka fighting for the rights of Tamils, addressed the crowd.

Australian Tamils have surrounded Kirribilli House – the Prime Minister’s Sydney residence, and demanding for immediate ceasefire in Sri Lanka. The spontaneous rally was called amid news that the Sri Lankan Armed Forces have moved forward making attempts to enter the safe zone. The protestors say, if the Sri Lankan Army move into the safe zone, 300,000 Tamil lives will be at risk.

They urge the Government of Australia to use its diplomatic powers to pressure Sri Lanka to enter in to an immediate and permanent ceasefire. They also urge UN and NGO officers to be allowed immediately in to the safe zone. The civilians in the so called safe zone fear to move into the chauvinistic Sinhala military hand.

Already three Australian tamil youths are on indefinite hunger strike to stop the genocide going on in Sri Lanka.

More than 1,000 Tamils - including three hunger strikers - staged an all-night rally outside Kirribilli House as part of a global protest aimed at brokering a ceasefire between the Sri Lankan army and the Tamil Tigers. The protest began as a three-man hunger strike in Parramatta, in Sydney's west, on Saturday but moved to the prime minister's official northern Sydney residence amid reports the Sri Lankan government had broken into the "no fire zone" in the island nation.

Many had been lying on mats and pillows on the road early in the morning. Protester Geetha Mano, 24, says the rally will continue until they get some response from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd or Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith. Ms Mano said the protesters were calling for the ceasefire, for food and medicine to be sent to the Tamil civilians and for Tamil people to have the right to live where they choose.

"It's about time the voice of these people gets heard... after all, we are all humans," she told. We ask the international community and the Australian government to urge, to push the Sri Lankan government to call for a ceasefire and to meet these demands so that these people get the right to live freely and with freedom of choice."

Police are monitoring the peaceful protest and many streets surrounding Kirribilli House have been closed.

Tamils Diaspora is doing an excellent job voicing the silenced Tamils in Sri Lanka.

There are continuous protests all over the world to demand immediate and permanent ceasefire to Tamils' regions.

There are Hunger Strike going on in UK, Canada, Australia, Zurich, and South Africa demanding immediate and permanent ceasefire.

I am very impressed by the energy and the commitment all the Tamils have put forth to voice the atrocities of the Sri Lankan Government so far.

The oppression has been going on for 60 years, but we don't have to go back to see the Tamils blood thirsty Sri Lankan Government killing Tamils civilians for the pure purposes of systematically removing them from Sri Lanka.

True.

The entire Diaspora has to do this excellent job now because of the mega-supe-excellent job done by a few "LTTEsporans" during last 30 + years that helped LTTE to amass weapon cache of unprecedented amounts and then kill all other tamil representatives and then start the terrorist activities - by the money poor expat tamils "donated voluntarily" to the " cause" and also made by drug trafficking and money laundering.

Me too thrilled and flabbergasted by the "energy" and "commitment" shown by all the LTTE supporters - not to mention the "fire-in-belly" attitude and the professionalism of  the paid supporters - to save their beloved "leeder" and the "leedership"

Bravo Annans, Thambees , Akkas and  Thangachees :-)) . Great job..!!

Some of the comments here shows callous attitude of some people towards human suffering going in Srilanka. The similar attitude created this monstrous racial problem for that once paradise country.

Its a matter of life or death. Tamils now realized the critical time we are passing through. No one else will come for helping us. There are only people to make fun and give statements. If we keep silent now, we will not hear any more voices of tamils in sri lanka.  There are also 7 tamils from Denmark going on hunger strike which also includes one pregnant women.  We will get our freedom.
