More than 100 million people voted all over India in Phrase II of Indian Parliament Election 2009.An estimated 55 percent of the 194 million electorate - of the country's total 714 million voters exercise their franchise in 140 constituencies in 12 states,from Jammu and Kashmir in the north to Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in the south.The states which went to polls on Thursday,the 23rd April 2009 were Andhra Pradesh(68),Assam(62),Bihar(44),Goa(55),Jammu and Kashmir(46),Karnataka(55) Madhya Pradesh(45),Maharastra(56),Orissa(55),Tripura(80) and Jharkhand(47).A total of 2,034 candidates were in the fray.Despite the searing heat,there were long queues at most of the 2,22,350 polling stations.
