NP Rank:
Baby Grace, R.I.P.
When I posted an article about the Baby Grace trial last week I expected at least
one comment from a parent or other person who might have been alarmed at the
horrific treatment and murder of toddler Riley Ann Sawyer, a.k.a. Baby Grace,
whose body washed ashore in Galveston Bay, Texas back back in 2007.
Well, no comments and just a handful of views here !!
I got to wondering, is there a lack of concern or apathy regarding the murder
of innocent children when it occurs outside our native cities ? I don't believe so,
it's just the busy world we live in today. No, it's not that we turn a blind eye to
the tragic deliberately. It's just that there's only just so much news we feeble,
inadequate humans are capable of absorbing and acting on.
The Baby Grace Trial reached a just conclusion today with the murder
conviction of the tot's mother, Kimberly Dawn Trenor and I am relieved that
justice is being finally meted out. Ms. Trenor is being kept under minimum suicide
watch for the early part of her 'life without parole sentence' , which is the norm in
cases like this. The father and co-accused, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, awaits
trial at a later date.
Here's a bit from the D. A.'s closing statements, as reported by the
Galveston County Daily News today:
"Tubs are for bathing, not for drowning,” Sistrunk told the jury after
splitting closing arguments with Assistant District Attorney Kayla Allen.
Prosecutors alleged Trenor and Zeigler killed Sawyers in a daylong disciplinary
session that went too far.
“The U.S. government isn’t allowed to use water torture to interrogate terrorists,”
Sistrunk told the jury as he grabbed a wooden chair.

Better headline composition to get people's attention. 'Baby Washes Ashore, Dead by Torture"
It's bad enough when sexual predators do it, but to do that to your own child. They have surely lost their souls.

I titled it that way because it's not often we have grown men crying
after making a legal decision, so you know it must be deeply disturbing.
Yesterday I watched Larry King interview the Judge from Anna Nicole Smith's hearing.
The one who cried on the bench and was made fun of.
