Bachmann "House Call" Delivers Viral Response To A Sick Govt.
Rep. Michele Bachmann's message for conservatives traveling to Washington to attend her Capitol Hill "House Call" event today is simple: "Go into the Capitol and find members of Congress," she told activists Wednesday night. "Don't bring your pitchforks, bring your video cameras. And get them on record saying how they're going to vote and why. And tell them, 'Take your hands off my health care!' "
Bachmann (R-Minn.) gave the marching orders on a conference call of top activists, many of whom planned to board buses in New Jersey and North Carolina this morning to attend the event that the congresswoman thought up last week. "Nothing is more influential than an eyeball-to-eyeball meeting between a freedom-loving constituent and a member of Congress," she explained. "Nothing scares a member of Congress more than freedom-loving Americans."
Bachmann said the idea came to her as she lamented the speed with which the Democrats' health care reform bills were moving through Congress. "I was near despair," she said. "I was thinking, 'It looks like this bill is going to go through.' But then I thought, 'This is it. This is the Super Bowl of Freedom.' "
It's one thing to be serene under fire, it's another to be delusional. More than a few Democrats in Congress are perplexed and worried that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is insisting on ramming through a 1,900-page health care bill on Saturday, just days after her party took heavy losses in Tuesday's elections. "It reminds me of Major Nicholson, the obsessed British major in the film 'Bridge on the River Kwai,'" one Democrat told me. "She is fixated on finishing her health care bridge even as she's lost sight of where it's going and what damage it could cause to her own troops." Indeed, the Speaker's take on Tuesday's off-year elections struck some of her own members as delusive "happy talk." "From our perspective, we won last night," a cheerful Ms. Pelosi told reporters, citing her party's pick-up of a single House seat in a New York special election and retention of another strongly Democratic seat in California.
Initial reports of THOUSANDS of people are flooding in ... it may well be over 20,000 by the time Google turns back on its cameras that cover the streets of the Capital Mall! (confirmed on the Sean Hannity radio program)
One hour into the gathering, #housecall just made a "TRENDING TOPIC" on Twitter!
10:30am PT - Twitter is reporting that Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO.) had his constituents arrested when they showed up at his office and asked to meet with him!
The Speaker at the podium has just announced to have the gathered crowd to locate their representative and ask them where they stand on Socialized Health Care.
POTUS just made a "quick-hit" update speech on Obama-Care at the WH press briefing then turned and left without taking any questions.
Representative Greg Wilson (R-OR.) is reported on Twitter to have said "The Pelosi anthem is -'Leave No Child A Dime'"
10:57am PT - On Breitbart TV, Michelle Bachmann tells the gathering that they have two copies of the bill and that each attendee take a page ... or a half-a-page and ask their representative to read and explain what he just read.
This from FOX News - Republican Rep. Joe Wilson proposed an amendment Wednesday that would force all members of Congress to receive health insurance coverage through the government-run plan proposed in the House's reform bill.
Though Republicans oppose the so-called "public option," the South Carolina gadfly -- who gained notoriety for shouting "you lie" at President Obama during his address to Congress two months ago -- is proposing the requirement to draw attention to what he sees as the plan's flaws.
"They know the government-run option will not be in the interest of the American people, either individually or for the American citizens at large," Wilson said Wednesday, arguing that's the reason Congress does not require its members to sign up.
The current House health care legislation states that members of Congress "may enroll" in the public plan. Wilson wants that changed to "must enroll."

11:32am PT - Protesters roaming the halls of Congress were heard chanting in unison - "KILL THE BILL"!
House Republicans offer alternative healthcare proposal - Their modest, incremental approach focuses on controlling costs through market-oriented measures. But its larger purpose is to show that they're not just the 'party of no.'It is about time and only 219 pages, compared to the 1,990 pages that the Pelosi plan is. Plus this one addresses TORT Reform and breaking the red tape that would allow us to purchase insurance across state lines.

Fed Up With The Fed(eral government) (not verified)at 12:15 on November 5th, 2009
/sigh. Okay, so we all know Dems are in favor of big government, and Repubs are in favor of the government allowing capitalism to grow or shrink on it's own two feet. Regardless of how you feel about either of those groups (I consider myself neither), there's a bigger issue here than just the pros and cons of 'big government'. Government enforced (and yes, it would be required of you to get this health care, regardless of whether or not you want it, or face fines, penalties, and possible jail time) health care is the scariest thing brought to the table since we decided to nuke Japan (ok, that sentence was opinion). Let's analyze the last year or so of our great nation, shall we? First, the government forces various banks, automobile companies, etc to accept billions of "stimulus" money (What was stimulated, exactly?). THEN, when one of these companies (and I'm sorry I can't remember which one...I'll look into it and come back) comes back and says "No, really, thanks, but no thanks, here's your money back", the administration responds with "No, you're taking it. Period". Uhm...Ok. Then, when we look deeper into some of these stimulus "contracts" we see that the Fed owns 60% (again, read that somewhere, will research and get back with link) of the banking and lending industry in the US right now. Well...Hmm. That sure doesn't sound like a capitalist Republic (what we're supposed to be), to me, and regardless of whether youre a Dem or a Repub, you should be able to look at that figure and deduce certain things. Such as: the Constitution gives the fed the right to 'control commerce', it does not, however, give them the right to OWN commerce. There are very few governmental styles that allow for them, and all of them have been at war with us at some point or another. Owning 60% of ANYthing, makes you a 'majority stockholder'. Which means, what exactly? Well, it means that you have a HUGE say in what that company does, what its policies are, what its practices are, etc. Do we REALLY want the government controlling the banking industry in the US? Does the 1.4 trillion dollar defecit convey trust in terms of handling of money? I'm just saying....it doesn't look good to me. There is no WAY a true American would support this bill. This is the socialization of healthcare, and it scares the hell out of me, when you add it together with the fed controlling the banks especially.

Oops...misspoke up above...Fed owns 60% of GM, not a bank. Still, I stand by my earlier statement of it being scary for the Fed to own ANY business in the US. I apologize for the misspeak. www.blogcatalog.com/topic/government+owns+60%25+of+general+motors/ Well.....damn. Can't find which company tried to give back the money and was told no. I know I read it somewhere, but..Ah, well. If anyone else heard of that (I'm sure I'm not the only one), can you post a link? I'm not trying to delegate the responsibility of truth, just not able to find the link.

www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/mar/17/ca-north-coast-stimulus-money-return-031709/ Article outlining several banks tried to give back their stimulus money, but that the fed "still has to approve" them giving it back. Wait...What? You have to APPROVE me paying you back? Is that because you have my best interests in mind, or because you want to own me? Interesting.
