Bahrain Government Clears Pearl Roundabout with Deadly Force

Bahraini forces have crushed the protest camp at Pearl Roundabout. Tanks and helicopters were deployed against the anti-government demonstrators in Manama, echoing the force used by Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi.

Several protesters and police officers were killed in the attack, which drew widespread condemnation from around the world. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have supplied armed forces to help crush the protests, as those countries seek to avoid the tide of reform-minded demonstrations that have swept the region and claimed the regimes of Egypt and Tunisia.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron spoke with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, urging the monarch to choose reform over repression, but clearly al-Khalifa was not on the same page. The British Foreign Office has urged all Britons in Bahrain to leave the country immediately.

Video Footage of Bahrain Abduction

The Telegraph has footage showing Bahraini soldiers shooting a man at point-blank range. Meanwhile, footage was uploaded to LiveLeak which purports to show someone getting abducted by Bahraini security forces. You can see the man getting beaten before he is thrown into the back of a truck.
