The Baltimore Marathon for 2009 is now over and the winner is Alphonce Yatich from Kenya with a time of 2:14:04, making this his first marathon win.
Julius Keter, last year's defending champion came in second but couldn't keep up with Yatich after about mile 20.
"I felt great," Yatich said through a translator. "The win took me by surprise because I didn't know if I'd be able to keep up my pace.
"At the beginning of the race, the weather conditions were good, but I think I would have done much better if it hadn't started to rain," he said.
Iulia Arkhipova from Kyrgzstan won the women's Baltimore Marathon 2009 with a time of 2:32:09, beating the previous record of 2:35:45.
She said she was very happy with her win as the course is not easy and the wind was very strong.
