Police insisted that they only used teargas to disperse the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporters on Tuesday.
Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Pol Maj-Gen Amnuay Nimmano said no other lethal force was used to disperse the crowd.
"I can confirm you that police used teargas only," he said in a morning television interview..."
(Note. It is possible to shoot some forms of tear gas from shotguns, although the practice is rare. If tear gas is fired from shotguns it would not be advisable to shoot horizontally as seen in this picture.)
