Bank Robbery Suspect John Ford Eats Evidence During Arrest
Cleveland native John Ford was caught on tape eating the evidence after he was arrested for allegedly robbing a local bank. Ford ate the evidence -- a piece of paper on which he supposedly wrote a note for the bank clerk demanding money. But, there is more evidence against Ford that is still intact, including a weapon and money found in his Ford Escort that matched the description of the robber's car.
The bank robber suspect went into the First Merit bank in Streetsboro, Ohio on Thursday. He was arrested quickly after. As two police officers were searching the man's pockets, they found a slip of paper, left it on the police car's hood and carried on with the search. Pressed against the car, Ford noticed the paper, grabbed it with his mouth and gulped it down, while the two policemen remained completely unsuspecting. Officers say they did not notice that Ford was eating the paper. But, a dashboard police camera recorded the "destruction" of evidence by Ford, and the video is now going viral.
Investigators watching CCTV footage of the robbery said it appeared the man they claim is Ford handed the teller a note demanding cash.
Investigators asked whether officers had found the piece of paper.
Police reviewed the images captured on camera and said they observed Ford leaning over to eat something off the bonnet of the cruiser.
'He grabbed it in his mouth, just like Pacman,' Biada said. 'He just ate it right there.'
